GETTING STARTED

Pair your devices.
Then get started.

01

Install the desktop assistant

Download a released version, install it and open VoKeys.

02

Sign in to the same account

Use the same VoKeys account on your computer and phone. The mini program beta requires testing access.

03

Scan to pair your phone

Select Add input device on your computer, then scan its code in the mini program or app and follow the prompts.

Connection & security

Reconnect next time

Pairing is saved on your devices. When the assistant is running, reopening the mobile client attempts to reconnect without another scan.

Local network: direct first

On the same LAN, VoKeys prefers a direct encrypted connection. Your computer can use Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

Different networks: enable remote access

In desktop settings, confirm that remote access is available, select Enable remote connections and save. Your phone can then reach a paired computer through the encrypted relay.

Before connecting

For LAN connections, allow WeChat local network access and the desktop assistant through your firewall; avoid guest-network isolation. For remote connections, both devices need internet access and the desktop assistant must remain running with remote access enabled. Check VPN rules if LAN or account traffic is blocked.

Pairing identifies the computer, rather than its IP address. Switching Wi-Fi or Ethernet does not change its identity. Discovery depends on network permissions and routing; retry or scan again if recovery fails.

Text, images, files and commands are encrypted between devices. The remote relay forwards encrypted data. Speech recognition is handled by the WeChat plugin or your input method.

Input

Choose a tool and review your draft

Open and sign in to your desktop tool, then select it in the mini program Input page. Hold to talk for live transcription and release to keep the draft. Switch to the keyboard to edit or attach images. Fill inserts content into the desktop input; Send also triggers the tool’s send action. Check the target and content first.

Stop acts on the current desktop tool. Backspace deletes before the caret in the focused input field; it does not delete submitted chat messages. Input targeting depends on app versions and permissions. Mac requires Accessibility access; a non-elevated Windows assistant cannot type into elevated windows.

Desktop view & control

Desktop view and control support Windows and Mac. Desktop viewing and control over a local connection are available on the free plan; remote viewing and control require VIP. Open Desktop in the mini program or iOS app and tap the preview to enter full screen at 2×. Pan with one finger; pinch to zoom or drag with two fingers to scroll. Tap to click the computer, or hold and drag to select text or move objects.

Hold the mouse icon at the bottom right to reposition it. Tap to open the control pad with left/right buttons and a wheel. Full screen has no text input; return to Input for text or voice. If capture is stopped on the computer, tap View again on the phone to resume.

File transfer

In File transfer, select files and confirm to send them to the connected computer. Find them under Received files in the desktop assistant and open their folder. The per-file limit is 50 MB. Remote transfer speed depends on both networks and relay bandwidth.

Frequently asked questions

What can I do with VoKeys?+

VoKeys turns your phone into an input companion for desktop AI. Send voice-transcribed text, screenshots and files to Codex, Cursor, Claude and WorkBuddy, switch input targets, and view or control your desktop locally or remotely.

Do I need the desktop assistant?+

Yes. VoKeys sends phone input to the desktop assistant, which inserts it into an AI tool you already have open.

Which AI tools can I use?+

Supported tools include Codex, Cursor, Claude, WorkBuddy, Doubao, Feishu, PPT, Word, Excel and PowerShell. You can also click any editable input on your computer and select “Current app” on your phone. Input availability depends on app version, sign-in status and system permissions. Their subscriptions are not included.

Do my devices need the same network?+

No. On the same LAN, VoKeys prefers encrypted direct connections over Wi-Fi or Ethernet. On different networks, enable remote access on the computer and keep both devices online.

Where does my voice and text go?+

Text, images and files travel encrypted between devices, directly on the LAN or through the relay. Keyboard dictation is handled by your input method. Mini program push-to-talk sends audio to WeChat’s speech recognition plugin.

Does VoKeys show AI responses on my phone?+

Open Desktop in the mini program or iOS app to view your Windows or Mac screen and read tool responses. Desktop viewing and control over a local connection are available on the free plan; remote viewing and control require VIP. Structured reply syncing and automatic task completion notifications are not available.
